On behalf of the George Washington University Board of Trustees, welcome to the George Washington University community.

I am honored to represent the university as Chair of the Board of Trustees and equally proud to be an alumna who holds in the highest regard all that GW has to offer - not only to our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends, but to our local, national, and global community.

The GW Board of Trustees is responsible for our university's governance, and as a result, this assembly is integral to determining how the university meets the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.  Trustees play a key role in overseeing fiscal, academic, and physical operations.  They also provide leadership for GW's strategic initiatives - all of which are designed to enhance the academic and student life of our campuses.

These are exciting times for the GW community as we embark on our third century.  We continue to nurture and enhance our distinction in academic achievement, research, and public service.  We feel uniquely positioned to contribute to the advancement of human knowledge as a comprehensive academic institution located in the heart of our nation's capital. 

The GW Board of Trustees is focused on how this great university will play a role on the global stage and contribute to the transformation that will shape the years ahead.  From public policy and the law to science and technology and from medicine and public health to the arts and humanities, our broad and diverse community embraces the possibilities with confidence in our commitment, capability, and passion.
